I'm a seasoned telecommunications engineer with over 16 years of experience. In addition to my corporate role, I'm an enthusiastic Linux user, and I have embarked on a personal journey into web development, creating digital projects that foster exploration and innovation. Outside of my tech interests, I find solace and adventure riding my mountain bike, indulging my love for the great outdoors.
I have been employed for 16 years at Globe Telecom, Inc., Philippines. I specialize in serving enterprise and corporate leased-line clients, and I bring with me over 16 years of distinguished service. Throughout this tenure, I've honed a broad and deep array of skills, marking my stature as an expert in the telecommunications domain. My professional journey hasn't been confined to a singular sector. Instead, I have worked with clients from a diverse spectrum of industries, including banking institutions, governmental agencies, educational establishments and universities, international business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, large news and media stations, corporate hotels and resorts like Shangri-La Resort Boracay, local internet service providers (ISP), energy and power providers, and private corporations. My footprint isn't just industry-wide but also geographically vast. I've had the privilege to influence projects and initiatives across the breadth of Panay Island in the Western Visayas, Philippines. This includes the vibrant regions of Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, and the world-renowned Boracay Island.
As an enterprise and corporate operations engineer at Globe Telecom, I play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our operations. For over 15 years, I was privileged to work closely with Roger Suycano, who can attest to my dedication and competence. You can reach out to him here for further insights about my work. Presently, I have the privilege of working with Gerard Montejo, who can also provide feedback on my contributions. You can contact him through his email for any inquiries.
At the core of our service offerings lies my proficiency in both equipment installation and the intricacies of configuration and integration. From the deployment of routers and various customer premises equipment (CPE) to the setup of advanced switches and microwave radios, I led the way in establishing last-mile customer premises equipment. Our teams of linemen, under my guidance, adeptly handle diverse mediums, including copper and fiber. Furthermore, my responsibilities encompass conducting thorough technical assessments as part of the circuit installation process, culminating in precise audits that identify and escalate potential vulnerabilities.
However, my expertise doesn't stop at installation. Armed with a comprehensive arsenal of vendor-specific tools, I delve into the intricate configuration of our equipment. This entails tasks such as IP setup, precise adjustment of bandwidth parameters, and the fine-tuning of various settings. Following this meticulous configuration phase, I seamlessly integrate this equipment into our clients' networks, ensuring a seamless and efficient operational environment.
Ensuring optimal operations necessitates an eye for detail and quick troubleshooting capabilities. I am invariably at the forefront, ensuring the smooth functioning of last-mile mediums and customer equipment. From proactive monitoring of our esteemed Globe clients to supervising third-party providers, I ensure that our service level agreements are not just met but exceeded. Further solidifying our commitment to excellence, I oversee both preventive and corrective maintenance initiatives, safeguarding our enterprise's assets' longevity.
Organization is the cornerstone of efficient operations. I meticulously document details pertinent to our clients, ensuring that every facet of our engagements is transparent and traceable. Beyond this, I maintain an exhaustive inventory, ensuring that resources are always available at a moment's notice, streamlining our operational efficiency.
In my pivotal role, I actively collaborate with a diverse array of teams, each a vital cog in the complex machinery of our operations. This spectrum includes network field operations, project management, customer support systems, service provisioning experts, Tier 1 and Tier 2 personnel, strategic sales representatives, and numerous other support groups both within Globe and among external parties. My engagements also encompass Globe's client relationship managers, IT departments, and a range of other key stakeholders. Together, we synergize to provide exceptional service to Globe's valued clientele.
From January 4 to March 9, 2022, I embarked on a critical mission as part of Globe's disaster response team to aid the heavily affected areas of Cebu Province in the aftermath of Typhoon Rai, locally known as Typhoon Odette. I was entrusted with my service-designated pickup truck, a reliable Isuzu D-Max 4x4, fully loaded with essential tools and equipment required for our restoration efforts. The journey was nothing short of an adventure as I drove from Iloilo City to Dumangas Port, where I boarded a RORO (Roll-On/Roll-Off) vessel bound for Bacolod. From there, I braved the treacherous mountain highway of Don Salvador in the middle of the night, eventually arriving in San Carlos to await the first trip of another RORO vessel that would take me to Toledo, Cebu. Throughout this expedition, my vehicle served as a mobile workshop, carrying an array of tools and materials, from basic fiber optic cables and fusion splice protectors to advanced devices like the OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) for precise fault detection. My responsibilities encompassed the entire spectrum of fiber restoration, including fault mapping, thorough testing utilizing the OTDR, and the meticulous preparation and splicing of fiber using essential tools such as cleavers and fusion machines. This hands-on experience in real-world fiber restoration was invaluable, and it deepened my expertise in ensuring critical communication infrastructure resilience during times of crisis.
Driving is an integral aspect of my profession, and my experience spans over 16 years with Globe Telecom. During my 12-year assignment in Kalibo, Aklan, where I covered a vast area, including the stunning Boracay Island and all of Capiz province, my driving skills were honed to an above-average level. Navigating remote and mountainous terrain was a common occurrence in my area of responsibility, and my ability to handle these conditions was crucial as I often traveled alone. For instance, traveling from Kalibo to Caticlan, then back to Kalibo for equipment supply, and onward to Roxas City, Capiz, covering approximately 350 kilometers, was part of my routine. There were numerous occasions when I had to make the 300-kilometer journey from Kalibo to Iloilo and back for meetings or equipment procurement, regardless of whether it was daytime or nighttime. Now that I'm based in Iloilo, I continue to cover a wide territory, including the northern Iloilo areas up to Carles, while still managing all towns of Capiz Province. With extensive driving experience, I've developed a deep respect for the roads and the diverse challenges they present.
Throughout my career journey, I've been privileged to receive recognition for my contributions and commitment:
